About us

Socially responsible livestock production:
Socially responsible activities are those in which the individual(s) profiting from the activity pay(s) all the costs the activity generates and shifts none of those costs to others who will not profit from the activity.  So, socially responsible farming would be farming where all the costs of the farm (air and water pollution, etc.) are contained within the farm's boundaries and are not shifted off the farm.

Community activists from across Canada and from the USA who participated in the Beyond Factory Farming conference held in Saskatoon in November 2002 decided to form a national coalition of the same name to promote our common vision and mission:

  • Livestock Production for Health and Social Justice
  • To promote livestock production that supports food sovereignty, ecological, human and animal health as well as local sustainability and community viability and informed citizen/consumer choice.
