"Restructuring of the swine industry has occurred in recent years and as a result swine operations are largely small scale. The swine industry is valued at $1.2 million in farm cash receipts. In 2006 there was 4,600 market hogs and 300 breeding stock. Operations are located throughout the Province to supply local demand. Due to the specific pathogen free status of swine herds, importation regulations are in effect."
