Human Health
From farm to fork industrial livestock production impacts our well being. Farm workers are exposed to noise, harmful emissions, particulate matter and other hazards. Rural neighbours are exposed to polluted air, water, and soil, suffer decreased quality of life, and often experience stress stemming from community conflict. Consumers are often exposed to meat contaminated with pathogens such as e coli and salmonella, and the public at large is facing serious public health issues including flu pandemics and antibiotic resistance linked to the industrialization and globalization of livestock production.
